Capstocks - Altuglas®
Product range
Some Altuglas® resins are used for capstock applications. They offer several advantages for co-extruded* sheet: Class A appearance, rigidity, dimensional stability and resistance (to heat, UV rays, shock, scratches, chemicals).
Optimised colour and texture properties for exceptionally glossy and long-lasting surfaces. Strike a balance with the ranges of available resins between the right texture and your application's specific characteristics.
*(Recommended for coextrusion on many polymeric substrates: ABS, PC/ABS, HIPS, ASA, ASA/PC, PC, PVC)
Altuglas® resins used for capstock applications are suited for two manufacturing processes:
- Thermoforming: technique where a material in the form of a sheet is heated to soften and shape in a mould. The material hardens as it cools and keeps its shape.
- Coextrusion: extrusion process used to assemble polymers to create multilayered structures requires two or more extruders.
