Capstocks - Altuglas®
Product range
Some Altuglas® resins are used for capstock applications. They offer several advantages for co-extruded* sheet: Class A appearance, rigidity, dimensional stability and resistance (to heat, UV rays, shock, scratches, chemicals).
Optimised colour and texture properties for exceptionally glossy and long-lasting surfaces. Strike a balance with the ranges of available resins between the right texture and your application's specific characteristics.
*(Recommended for coextrusion on many polymeric substrates: ABS, PC/ABS, HIPS, ASA, ASA/PC, PC, PVC)

Arkema partners European project MMAtwo to develop a recycling process for PMMA waste
- Short newsToday was the kickoff meeting of the MMAtwo project. A partner of MMAtwo, a European project for the recycling by depolymerization of PMMA waste to turn it back into raw material, Arkema will also be chairing the project’s executive committee. This role reflects the Group’s desire to promote the recycling of finished products and the circular economy, and is consistent with its commitment in favor of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Altuglas® resins used for capstock applications are suited for two manufacturing processes:
- Thermoforming: technique where a material in the form of a sheet is heated to soften and shape in a mould. The material hardens as it cools and keeps its shape.
- Coextrusion: extrusion process used to assemble polymers to create multilayered structures requires two or more extruders.
