"Walden Raft" 1 & 2, by Elise Morin and Florent Albinet
"Walden Raft" is a dynamic and contemplative experience which offers the public a space for reflection, referencing the american naturalist and poet Henry David Thoreau’s cabin, built in the woods of Walden Pond in 1845. Designed between opacity and transparence, "Walden Raft" is a space for experimentation- a floating, luminous, audible, mobile vessel.
Behind this tremendous project: Elise Morin and Florent Albinet, two french contemporary artists. They unveiled their piece of work at Lac de Gayme (Puy-de-Dôme - France) in August 2015, as a part of Horizons « Arts-Nature » in Sancy
Here, Altuglas® sheet was chosen for its unrivaled transparency and light weight, giving the "Walden Raft" stability on the water. Their exceptional distortion-free properties made them ideal for this project, which the artist wanted to be light and airy.
And then, this little cabin has set out on a journey through the various European Nuit Blanche night festivals... The Walden Raft 2.
